How to Update Sign in Type When SSO is Down

Follow

Many users log into Catalyst using the Single Sign On option. This guide walks through the steps to change users Sign-in Type from SSO in the event that the third party SSO service is down.

When SSO is set up initially, Administrators should be set with a sign in type of Any so they can access Catalyst with their username and password independent of SSO.

To change your sign in type:

1. Open the Administration menu and select Users

2. Select your name

3. Select the Edit button

4. Click the Sign-in Type drop down and select Any

5. Save Changes

To quickly get all the user's access to Catalyst you will need to do a User import with updated sign in types. You will export the User information, edit the sign in type and import the changes.

To export the current User list:

1. Open the Administration menu and select Import and Export

2. Select User Audit Report

3. The UserAccessReport will begin downloading in the Export History

4. Click the link and open the spreadsheet

5. Save the exported UserAccessReport (we'll be importing this back in when SSO is working)

6. Save a copy of the UserAccessReport

7. Change the Sign-in Type for all users from SSO to Any

8. Save the changes to the Copy of the UserAccessReport

To import the updated UserAccessReport:

1. Open the Administration menu and select Import and Export

2. Select New Import

3. Choose Users from the Select Module drop down

4. Path to the edited UserAccessReport file from Choose File

5. Map the Name and Sign-in Type fields (the other fields can be skipped)

6. Click the Next button

7. Choose Name for the Key field and Create New for the Update Method

8. Click the Submit button

9. Click the Submit button on the Import preview page to begin the import

10. The import will display in the Import History - Refresh the screen to verify it finished

All the users will now be able to log in with their Catalyst username and password or SSO when the service is available. Once the SSO service is stable you will change back the users sign in type to SSO.

To revert back to SSO sign in type:

 1. Open the Administration menu and select Import and Export

2. Select New Import

3. Choose Users from the Select Module drop down

4. Path to the original UserAccessReport file that you exported from Choose File

Now the sign-in type for all the users is back to what it was before the service disruption.
