Two Factor Authentication

Follow

Catalyst offers two factor authentication that allows users to sign in with their username and password followed by a numerical code sent to users via SMS messaging (text message) to their phone that is then entered in the onscreen prompt to gain access. Users using a single sign on option can use the two-factor authentication as well. In this instance, signing in through the SSO provider will grant access, but trying to sign in outside of the SSO system will trigger two factor authentications.
Catalyst offers three options for two-factor authentication, they are:

  • Off: Dual factor authentication is off. The Off setting is the default setting. This allows users to sign in with just a Username and Password.
  • Optional: Users may elect to turn on dual factor authentication. The Optional setting allows individual users to decide if they want to turn on two factor authentication or stay with the default login setting.
  • Required: All users (except single sign on users) must use dual factor authentication. The Required setting requires that all users set up two factor authentication.
